Spring Photo Shoot

Early spring is probably one of my favorite times of the year. Trees are beginning to bud, flowers start blooming, and the best part of all is that there are hardly any bugs!
I had the idea for this post when I noticed that one of the big crop fields, just down the road from my house, had thousands upon thousands of little purple flowers growing in it; so to me it seemed silly not to have a photo shoot. So as soon as I was able, which was the next day or so, my sister and I headed out for what has become one of my favorite photo shoots yet.
I love it how you can see the flowers stretching off into the distance.

What looks like a head band in her hair is actually a white scarf.

And we decided that it would make a nice prop to work with.

Because of all the wind it made for some really nice shots.

Even though I got a lot of good shots it wasn’t all that easy, I still ended up taking over 300 pictures in about an hour and a half.

But I must say out of all those pictures I took, this next one is probable my favorite, and I’m not sure why. We were done with the shoot and heading back home and my sister was in the middle of climbing over a fence and for some reason it just seemed like the picture perfect moment…

Photo Journal ~ Spring has Sprung

The reason I put “Photo Journal” before my title is because, like all my other Photo Journal posts, I took all these pictures in one day (March 8th) instead of over a period time like I normally do. And I thought that giving a title at the end instead of a number made it more unique.

Despite Winter’s last efforts to give off a frosty chill, Spring has come, and I can prove it to you.

This morning I awoke to see that a thin coat of sleet had covered the ground last night.
As you can tell someone was already ready for Winter to be over.

Even though it was freezing outside, I couldn’t help but notice that everything looked a bit greener and that new plants were pushing through the ice.

I also noticed that some plants look really “cool” when their covered in ice.

Now I mentioned springing and sprunging (and yes I know this is not a word) and it just so happens that while I was outside, a couple of my horses were being playful and bouncing around, obviously enjoying the weather, so camera in hand I took a few shots (like fifty or so) and decided to use them for the Sprung part of this story…

I can’t help but laugh every time I see this last one…
You must be this tall before you can ride the ride.”

Okay that’s it for now, so until next time…

Young Love

A few weeks ago I was visiting one of my best friend's, who I hadn’t seen in almost a year, and was lucky enough to be able to there for a whole week. While I was there my friends boyfriend came over, her very first one I might add, and so naturally it was a big deal. So me being the photographer, I simply couldn’t leave without having a photo shoot of the both of them. I must say I was very excited about the whole thing because it was my first time shooting this kind of topic, and because of that I ended up taking over 300 pictures! But lucky for all of you I was able to narrow it down to just the highlights. : ) So without further ado, I give you “Young Love.”

This next one is one of my favorites because I was trying to be artistic and it ended up looking really nice,  (in my opinion anyway).

You wouldn’t know it but this next picture took me hours trying to get it just right…

Here’s another one I had to work on for awhile…
Can you see what’s photo-shopped?

I think this next one looks really sweet.

And for this last one I found the perfect verse to go with it; oh and there are also a few things photo-shopped in this picture as well, some of them more obvious than others.

Prov. 4:23 Watch over your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the sources of life.
Oh and the rock itself was not photo-shopped, just the color, he just happened to find it while we were walking around, which is something I guess he does all the time.

Well until next time…

Let it Snow!

I’m so happy right now because it’s finally Winter!!! I know winter technically started back on December 21st, or sometime around then. But for me I don’t consider it winter until we get enough snow to actually cover the ground.  So beginning last night, winter has come.
This is a shot of the snow falling outside. It kind of looks like little shooting stars.

Even though we got maybe an inch worth of snow, it doesn’t look like it because the wind was blowing so hard that it made it thicker in some areas, and none in others.
This last one was cool because I didn’t even see my horses there until after I took the picture.

Something about snow tends to bring the birds out.

Now to show you how hard the wind was blowing, let me explain something. I live right next to a mound/hill/really tiny mountain, and all the property around me is flat. So there gets to be really strong wind current blowing around, so much that you can see it.

Well that’s all for now.
So until next time…

Fire, Water, and a little bit of Homework.

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been scanning through my pictures trying to find something to blog about. And one of the first things I thought of was Fire.

But I don’t have that many Fire pictures, so I knew I needed something to go along with it, and what better choice than Water.
In this case rain water.

But I felt that it needed just a little something more, because honestly, a title like “Fire and Water” just didn’t seem to catch the eye. So for the last part of my title I decided to throw in a little something that had to do with my life right now. I bet you didn’t think it would be this complicated, did ya?  But I’ll get to that later. For now I have more heated things to get to.

Now before you judge me on this last picture, let me just explain that these were mice infected books that were beginning to mold and they had to be disposed of, and we just happened to have a fire going anyway, so of course I took it as a photo opportunity.

I bet you can’t guess what this next picture is of.

Okay I’ll tell you. This is a friend of mine that is actually juggling fire!

Cool right.

Okay lets douse this subject with a little something else.

This next one I did raw. (No editing involved, except for my watermark)

And then I did it again with a bit of processing. Like how I snuck in the food analogies.  And I call it, “Golden Raindrops”

Now I’ve worked my way around this until now, so I’ll just come out and tell you. The reason for the last part of the title, and why I haven’t posted anything sooner, is because I am studying for my GED. Dramatic music, “don don da” Actually even though I’ve just started studying, it’s easier than I thought it would be, at least so far.

I did this picture originally with a mechanical pencil, because that’s what I use, but it just didn’t look as good as a real one.

Because I don’t own the study book I’m using, I have to write down all my answers on something else.

Reading through this book I come across a lot of different emotions.

And it can get a bit messy.

But I know I will be able to figure it out if I just try hard enough.

And hopefully when I’m all done I’ll be able to celebrate victory!

So because of all this I probably won’t be posting as much in my blog as I’d like to, L, but don’t worry I won’t forget about it, because after all, photography for me, is homework. J
